Wasiera Gowdy
Wasiera Gowdy was born in the Bronx and until this day her mother and her still live in the Bronx. She is eight years old and attends PS 48, which is a school also in the Bronx. Wasiera is currently in the 3rd grade and she considers herself a very smart young girl. She says she is a straight “A” student. On her most recent state test she tells me that even though it was one of the hardest test she has taken, she is confident that she did well. I am so glad that a child her age has so much confidence in what she does. Wasiera has lived with her mother Kimberly Clement since she was about the age of three. Her father Vernon Gowdy lives on his own. She told me that even though both parents don’t live together she loves them both the same. Wasiera is also not just a straight “A” student, but she is also very talented. As seen on the interview she can sing very well for a young girl her age. Not only that but she dances, is very flexible, and does karate. Her view about the Point is that it’s a great place for children her age to have fun and learn new things. The Point for her is another way of sharing her talents with other children. It also gives her something to do after school. Before Wasiera can actually play with her friends, she tells me that she does her homework. For her school is very important!
